Our Day at the Big Apple Comic Con!
a Mego Central special feature!
originally featured on the Mego Central forum!
As many here know, a bunch of us met at the New York Big Apple Comic convention yesterday and despite the rain we all managed to enjoy each others company. Andy ( ADJ69 ) and his wife Theresa, Mike J, Ron Murgo, Craig Wichman( wich2 ) and myself all went into the convention after chatting in the lobby for about an hour and the first thing we did was pay a visit to Doc Mego's table. As you can see, the good doctor came prepared with his usual boatload of heads, costumes, reproduction boxes, custom figures, emblems and just about anything else you can imagine. If it has to do with Mego then the good doctor has it. These pics below will support this theory.

A steady stream of customers continued
to stop and chat with us for close to
four hours. We met one gentleman who
worked on the Mego Corps catalogs and
who knew Neil Kublan and Marty Abrams
very well. He gave me his buisness card
to forward to Neil who he is quite fond of
and he agreed to an interview so get
your questions ready.
This next picture shows Mike J after having one too many drinks while I admire Doc Mego's custom Knights.

Next up is Ron Murgo's mug shot when he was apprehended while breaking into Mike J's customs lab. As you can see here kiddies, crime doesnt pay and apparently neither does plastic surgery! A more colorful character I have yet to meet!.
Finally, we see both Andy and Doc Mego enjoying themselves at Doc Mego's booth where most of the day was spent. From there we made our way down to a local diner where rumors of Ron Murgo's hearty appetite were confirmed. From there we made our way back to the show to see a local television station filming the good doctors display table. When all was said and done, it was just nice to sit and talk with friends with whom you have known for years and getting a chance to spend some time with them in person was even better. I am looking forward to the next Big Apple Con ( june 2nd ) only this time, Ron is buying lunch!
