The Azrak-Hamway International official Worlds Famous Super Monsters were released circa 1973 in an effort to capitalize on the Mego Corporations very popular Mad Monster line. Their bright pink cards resembled the Mego Corps (Kresge cards) in almost every way and included art work of each character on their individual cards. Five characters were offered which included Frankenstein, Mummy, Wolfman, Dracula along with the highly coveted Creature of the Black Lagoon. The latter was produced with both a male and a female version and both are extremely scarce usually costing in the thousands of dollars. Reports of AHI boxed monsters are rumored and do exist but the numbers are very few. AHI monsters continue to be as popular today as they once were close to thirty years ago which cannot be said about many of the toys that were produced in that same era. AHI monsters have proven to have survived the tests of time as they continue to command high prices in the secondary market even to this very day
