| Real name: Oswald Cobblepot Occupation: Trader Base of Operations: Gotham City Marital Status: Single Height: 5' 2" Weight: 175 Eyes: Blue Hair: Black First Appearance: DETECTIVE COMICS #58 (December, 1941) Oswald Cobblepot always had a fascination for birds and regarded the feathered creatures as his only childhood friends. He grew up being viciously taunted by the other children and those lessons in cruelty have served his malicious career in crime very well. A master criminal strategist, the Penguin uses his considerable intellect to gain wealth and power through less than legal means. Though he appears to be in poor physical condition, he is remarkably agile and has trained himself in hand-to-hand combat. He is no match for Batman in a straight fistfight, but the Penguin is known to produce a concealed weapon from his trademark umbrella or employ the use of trained birds of prey for in his attacks. The Batman has defeated the Penguin in each of their numerous clashes, but the Dark Knight still considers Mr. Cobblepot a formidable foe who is not to be taken lightly. |
