Mego Central Presents
Wizard of Oz  Dolls
This was one of Mego's more successful lines and many of them were produced in large quantities. Some, however, saw limited production and are very hard to find.
Three playsets were produced for the line: Munchkinland, Emerald        City and a rare Wicked Witch Castle. Two are shown further down on this  page..
Dorothy and Toto
So sweet and pure.  Little Dorothy has a dark        side, I am sure of it.  Anyway, she came complete with pigtails with        ribbons, red slippers and white socks, a basket and her little dog        too!
Glinda the Good  Witch
Glinda is another good, pretty cheap figure in this        line.  Her little wand is a pain to find with loose figures, but dont        sweat too much over getting it, you can buy her boxed for $25.
Glinda comes with a Gold crown (no not King        Arthur's), pink shoes and a gold wand.
The Tin Woodsman
My favorite in the line, just because they went all        out on him There is only one major problem with this figure.  There is no way to get him to hold his axe. What this means is...you        loose the axe.  It is interesting that in Mego ads he is displayed  holding his hand on the end of the handle, and the axe resting on the   ground; This is not possible, since the figure is too  tall.
FEAR NOT! This Axe is available on the War Heroes  Fighting Seabee...you can buy the complete figure for $20 tops and steal   his axe, then sell him for $20 without it or keep a cool little sailor        guy.
Comes with silver bodysuit, chest armor sealed on his        body, arm armor, thigh armor and some great armor boots....and the        infamous axe.  Sold on Type 1 or 2 bodies with SILVER hands only (the        only figure with silver hands).
The Scarecrow
Although not terribly exciting, he does do the        job.  Nice suit, although finding him loose with the strings decent        is tough.
Complete with hat (with elastic band), unique brown        boots/shoes and a plastic diploma.  Sold on Type 1 or 2 bodies with        YELLOW  hands only (the only figure with yellow hands).
The Cowardly  Lion
Great pajamas here. And, like the others, he has a        great head sculpt. He also sports some well made rubber lion shoes and the   Badge of Courage cross. Sold on both Type 1 and Type 2 fat bodies     (flesh hands).
The Wizard
A pretty nice, affordable Mego doll. Mego pumped these babies out people trying to earn more welfare. They  were sold "exclusively" in the Emerald City playset.  Well, thats        what people say but he was available in several other ways too.
He was sold by the case in his plastic bag to mail-order companies in the late 70s.
There was also a rare window-box version of the        Wiz.
A Wizard of Oz box is fairly valuable.
The Wizard himself comes with a flashy lime and   striped suit, black coat, black rubber tophat and black rubber   shoes. His shoes are the exact same as the Mad Monster   Dracula. Available only on Type 2 Fat bodies with white  hands.
The Wicked Witch
Man, is she ugly or what? Often confused as She-Hulk (ok, once confused as She-Hulk); Frightening.
The witch comes with a delightful pointy hat with elastic string,   black shoes and a plastic broom. Hard to find complete.
Emerald City  Playset
Actually a pretty nice playset with lots of neat   gadgets.   This playset included cardboard cutout trees, a yellow   brick road, a place to use as the Wicked Witch's tower, a Throne   room/gadget room and more.  This playset came with "the Wizard"   figure.

Munchkinland   Playset
Getting your paws on one of these wont be easy. They were not  very widely distributed and can be a real pain to find if you are trying  to complete a collection. This playset came with the "Mayor" who was   also sold separately through catalogs.
Dorothy's basket not        included.

The Munchkins
Very hard to find.  These 4 little people came with the Munchkinland playset and were also sold through catalogs. They are pretty rare and worth quite a bit for some small, kind of silly        looking figures!
