As Mego searched for it's next big hit following the success of the first World's Greatest Super-Heroes line, they turned to a popular Sci-fi movie which had won fans over world-wide, the Planet of the Apes. The ape line was pretty successful and they made a slew of characters, with many different variants. The astronaut figure was, disappointingly, not Taylor, but rather, a generic astronaut. I believe they had liscensing problems with Heston. The Astronauts Burke and Verdon are from the television series (as opposed to one of the movies). |
